No-nonsense saunas for no-nonsense people

The Hot Box was started by a local builder who saw a gap: well-built, no-nonsense saunas for people who appreciate quality life and quality products.

Custom Built

Every sauna is custom-built here in the Bay of Plenty using quality materials and designed to handle real use — not just for show.

  • It usually takes about 45–60 minutes to reach the ideal temperature (80–100°C). Once it’s hot, the wood stove keeps the heat steady for hours, so you can enjoy a long, relaxing session.

  • To start the fire we use Douglas Fir and then once it’s running its fed with Kānuka to keep it burning hot.

  • Bring a towel, swimsuit, and a bottle of water. We recommend light, breathable clothing or swimwear inside the sauna. If you’d like to cool off between rounds, use our custom built buckets and showers for a hot-cold experience.
